Roxanne Johnson has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil.
When Roxanne was a child she used to draw on just about anything she could get my hands on. Roxanne was also fortunate to have a Mother who was very supportive in her creative abilities.
During her grade school years, she always enjoyed art classes and at the age of 14, Roxanne was fortunate enough to land her first job at a printing company where she learned bindery and commercial art skills. Roxanne always knew she would continue her artistic skills into adulthood. Upon graduation from high school, Roxanne attended the Maryland School of Art & Design in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she graduated with a Certificate in Visual Communications. During her educational experience here, she entered her first art show in the unusual media category and won 1st place. During the next few years Roxanne continued her artistic education at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. While she was there, she entered a Christian artist show and won 1st place in the etching category. This etching was later published. From here, Roxanne attended California State University in San Bernardino, California where she graduated with a BA in Art with an emphasis in printmaking. During this time, she began to show and sell her art. Roxanne also taught art in the public school district for about 10 years.
Though Roxanne has an education in art, she says there is nothing like learning from experience and from the help and expertise of other artists. Today, she continues to learn and explore the world of art.
