Roxanne Johnson, has been singing since she was about 4 years old and playing guitar since 17.
Roxanne was privileged to study voice with Margery McKay, who sang for the "Sound of Music" production. Roxanne studied voice performance with Darlene Romano at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, where she also studied musicianship and harmony. While working on her recording project under the direction of Paul Tucker, record producer and graduate of the Music Conservatory, she received excellent vocal coaching, song writing skills, and co-producing experience.
Through the urging and encouragement of many, Roxanne began to share her musical talents in many denominational churches and was later accompanied by Bob Silverman, former pianist of the Heritage Singers, U.S.A.. Together, they performed for weddings, receptions, special benefits, parties, clubs, and restaurants.
In Nov. of 1986, Roxanne sang on the "Power to Cope" program on New York television network. In March of 1989, she began singing for the Dr. Phil Jones Evangelistic Crusades. During a crusade in the Southern Phillipines, and upon invitation, Roxanne rendered a private concert for the Mayor and his family. Later that same year, she performed on the "Joy" program with the Trinity Broadcasting Network, in Santa Ana, California and on the "Search" program by The Quiet Hour Radio and Broadcast network in Redlands, California.
Very dear to Roxanne are the physically and mentally challenged children and young adults from the Palm Springs desert area, where she taught as a Special Ed School Teacher for 10 years. In April of 1989, Roxanne appeared as a special guest with her friend and student, Susan Kim, who has cerebral palsy, at the Annenberg Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Together we performed a special musical tribute to Mr & Mrs Leonard Goldenson, the National U.C.P. Founders. In Jan. of 1990, they again appeared on the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon, KESQ television network. Since the spring of 1990, Roxanne has performed as a special guest soloist for the annual Special Olympics pogram in San Bernardino, California.
In 1994, Roxanne was honored to perform in the "Palm Springs U.S.A." stage production, produced and directed by Roberta and Jim Bowen. On November 15, 1997, she performed with the California Ballet Company in "Coppelia" at the Annenberg Theatre in Palm Springs, California..
In 1997, Roxanne produced and directed the first successful musical program by the Special Ed Students of the Desert Springs Middle School in Riverside County, California, which was aired on KESQ television network.
On July 4, 1998, Roxanne performed and appeared on the local television network for the San Bernardino 4th of July Celebration. She also supports her husband's prison ministry by occasionally performing in the prisons.
For several years, Roxanne also worked with Dr Stephen Tucker, conductor, arranger, pianist, and composer. In 1998 and 1999 Stephen and Roxanne performed for the Annual Parkinson's Pallidotomy Reunion in Ontario,California under the direction of the late Dr Iacono, M.D.,F.A.C.S..
In May of 2000, Roxanne performed for Congressman Joe Baca in support of his campaign for Congress.
On March 31, 2001, Roxanne performed on Loma Linda television network in support of my husband's prison ministry.
On Jan. 25, 2002, Roxanne performed again for Congressman Joe Boca at his birthday celebration in Ontario, California.
In November of 2003, Roxanne performed for a Christmas program and a Joy music program for LBN television network.
From January 20th through Febuary 25th of 2006, Roxanne will be reuniting with Pastor Phil Jones to help launch his Prophecy Seminar in the High Desert.
If you ever get to attend one of Roxanne's fitness classes, she sometimes sings a song at the close of the class during stretch and relaxation. It's truly a memorable experience.
Roxanne currently performs as a soloist and occasionally performs with other musicians at private parties, clubs, weddings, etc., as well as prisons, churches and other Christian organizations, local television network and special benefits. She is also working on writing and arranging songs for future recording projects.
